Ball State University is a mourning transition from Dr. Alan L. Hargrave, a beloved and the administrator, whose visionary and student-first approach shaped universities more than three decades. Dr. Hargrave passed on June 7, 2025 in the age of 68.
Dr. Hargrave served a ball public at 35 years, in 2021 with a companion of the vice president of the student businesses and director of housing and residence life. By its tenure, transformed not just buildings, but the student experience each-overseing construction of four of the residence courts and renewal seven others. She was instrumental in shaping university in housing and diningboard teacher plan and elevating the ball state’s living, learning community model. And efforts to come, that the residence is not only about the students lived, but how to grow.

Dr. Hargrave began his life in the student housing after earning his bachelor’s and the owner steps on the east Illinois University.
